LOCAL ACTIVITIES & ATTRACTIONS

The Arches is ideally located to explore County Donegal & the North-West of Ireland. The Lough
Eske area is perfect for cycling & scenic walks. Boats for fishing or pleasure can be hired on the
lake. The Bluestack mountains present the perfect challenge for hikers & climbers. The mountain forms part of the Ulster Way hiking trail, with golden eagles soaring above. The area is also part of
the scenic Lough Eske & Bluestack Drive.

Slieve League Cliffs

At over 600 metres in height, Slieve League is one of Europe's highest sea cliffs. The views are spectacular & stretch from Donegal Bay to Sligo & Mayo. Hikers can cross the remarkable 'One Man's Pass' which consists of a narrow path, along the top of the cliffs.

Glenveagh National Park

Glenveagh National Park lies in the heart of the Derryveagh Mountains in the north-west of Co. Donegal. It is a remote and beautiful wilderness of rugged mountains and pristine lakes. At the centre of the park lies Glenveagh Castle and its stunning gardens.

Surfing & Watersports

Donegal boasts some of the finest surfing breaks in Europe. Surfing lessons & board hire can be found in Bundoran & Rossnowlagh. Many other watersports are catered for including, kayaking, wind surfing & kite boarding.

Blue Flag Beaches

Donegal is renowned for its stunning blue flag beaches. Most of the beaches have pristine strands which stretch for miles & are within 15 mins drive of the Arches. It's not unusual to find you have the whole beach to yourself. The Atlantic sea temperatures in summer are perfect for bathing.

Eating Out/Entertainment

Just 5 mins drive from the Arches; Donegal Town is well serviced with cafes, bars and restaurants. O'Donnell's Castle is a famous attraction & the Waterbus provides daily scenic tours around Donegal Bay. The lively pubs & bars provide traditional music & dance. The town is also well serviced with taxis.

Golf

There are many golf courses in Donegal. Murvagh
& Bundoran offer excellent links courses. Day
passes are available.

Killybegs

Killybegs is Ireland's largest fishing port & makes
for the perfect day trip. The picturesque harbour is always busy with trawlers & fishing boats. Sea angling & boat hire can be arranged here.

This was wonderful! Magnificent setting, fabulous choices for breakfast, great coffee, Each room has a sitting area overlooking the Lough. Each night our room had fresh bottled water, biscuits and chocolates. Noreen made our stay there perfect. Her suggestions for restaurants were right on.
